Final Joining Instructions – Major Stone Half Marathon – Lockington – Sunday 4th September 2016
** Race STARTS AT 10:00am – register early **
LOCATION: Lockington is approximately 5 miles north of Beverley, and about 6 miles south of Driffield, situated between two main roads the A164 Beverley to Driffield road and the B1248 Beverley to Malton road. Postcode is YO25 9SH
CAR PARKING: There is a designated field for parking, which will be signposted. Please use this – it is an approximately 10 minute walk to the Village Hall where you will be required to register. The start is outside the Post Office, opposite the Village Hall. Please DO NOT park on Front Street as the race starts and finishes here and you will potentially endanger yourselves, other runners and road users in general. Also, PLEASE do not stop in the area close to the Village Hall and Start even if only to “drop off” passengers.
These measures are being taken to make the staging of the race as smooth as possible for the residents of the village.
REGISTRATION: When you register you will be given a number – please wear this on the front of your vest only. Do not alter or fold the number. The registration desk is in the Village Hall opposite the Post Office on Front Street (the main street) in Lockington. *** All Runners MUST register and you will also be given a voucher for £1 toward the cost of refreshments, which cannot be redeemed for cash ***
EARPHONES/Personal Music Players: On no account will the wearing of ear-phones be allowed in the race. Marshals will be requested to report any runners not complying. Anyone caught is liable for disqualification from the race and will not be eligible for prizes. This is a UK Athletics rule for races on open single-carriageway roads.
REFRESHMENTS: are available in the Village Hall, where hot (free refill) and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale of refreshments are in aid of Lockington Village Hall.
MEMENTOES and PRIZES: Each runner will receive a technical T-shirt. Different sizes are available (up to a point!) and must be collected from the Village Hall after the race. Your number may have an indicator with your stated T-Shirt size, if you selected this on the online system or paper entry form. I owe an apology to those who selected ‘XS’ on the online entry system. This option should not have been made available and I hope you will be OK with a Small.
Various prizes are being awarded with the assistance of race sponsor Humber Runner. The Prize Presentation will take place between 12pm and 12:30pm (as soon as possi-ble) in the Village Hall.
MEDICAL COVER: will be provided by North East Medical Services. Please contact a member of NEMS or one of the numbers below if you see a runner who is in need of assistance.
CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS: (reasonable times only please)
- Richard (Race Director) : 07595 015841
- Angela : 07941 210198
These numbers will also be in operation on race day but like many rural locations the
reception can be variable.
SUPPORTERS: Supporters are very welcome but many of the roads on the course are small and narrow. If spectators stay in the Village, they can see you at 2 miles (if they are quick) and approx. 10.5 miles and can still walk back to the finish in time to see you cross the line. Driving to other points on the course would cause problems for your fellow runners and other road users so it is not encouraged.
Results will appear on the club website shortly after the event www.easthullharriers.com
