Summer League! New Ellerby 5 Mile 16th April 2019
Wow! Seems like only yesterday that I was finishing the results of last year’s Summer League and here we are again already!
Last night’s race took place in typical pre-Easter conditions, overcast with a breeze and quite chilly. Not the weather for standing around marshalling for ages so I suppose we should be grateful it was just five miles and not ten.
Conditions seemed good for running with some great performances through the field.
The men’s race was won by Mike Hargreaves (EHH), 44 seconds ahead of Phill Taylor (BRR) with Gregan Clarkson (CoH) a further seven seconds behind, (26:13, 26:47, 27:04)
In the lady’s event it was a ‘red’ wash with Katie Seddon ‘smashing it out of the park’ in 33:13 followed by Carole Fee, 33:39 and Kirsty Wilson, 34:01. That also sorted the female team prize!
Male team prize also went to the Harriers men with Lewis Suddaby and Mark Bissell also counting.
Other notable runs included the rapidly improving Oliver Burnett finishing 15th in 29:29; and I also noted Sheila Maddison putting in another great run (following an excellent result at Burton Pidsea on Sunday) finishing last night in 45:40.
The handicap winners last night were: Florence Henderson, unattached, (100 points), Samantha Bollon, Bridlington Road Runners (99) and Peter Taylor, City of Hull (98).
I hope you noted the new points structure of the handicap league, it follows the same principles as previous year’s but now works down from 100 to ten points.
Similarly, the handicapper is sure to have noted the winning performances and will be taking them into account when calculating them for the next and subsequent events!

Cheers,
Mike
