First done way back in 1932 by Bob Graham, hotelier of Keswick, Cumberland, at the age of 42, the 42 Peak Round has become a testing ground for the supremely fit. Each summer around 100 of the most highly tuned ultra-distance fell runners will attempt the 27,000 ft of ascent within the allotted 24 hours. Only one in three will return to the Keswick Moot Hall before the clock runs down. Most of the rest will be back again …!
The Lakeland 100 ‘Ultra Tour of the Lake District’ is a 105 mile ultra-marathon which claims to be the most spectacular long distance trail race which has ever taken place within the UK. The circular route encompasses the whole of the lakeland fells, includes in the region of 6300m of ascent and consists almost entirely of public bridleways and footpaths. The route starts in Coniston and heads South before completing a clockwise loop which takes in the Dunnerdale fells, Eskdale, Wasdale and Buttermere before arriving in Keswick. From here the route heads to Matterdale and continues over to Haweswater before returning via Kentmere, Ambleside and Elterwater to the finish at Coniston.

These measures are being taken to make the staging of the race as smooth as possible for the residents of the village.
REGISTRATION: When you register you will be given a number – please wear this on the front only. Do not alter or fold the number. The registration desk is in the Village Hall opposite the Post Office on Front Street (the main street) in Lockington. *** All Runners MUST register and you will also be given a voucher for £1 toward the cost of refreshments, which cannot be redeemed for cash ***

These numbers will also be in operation on race day but like many rural locations the reception can be variable.
SUPPORTERS: Supporters are very welcome but many of the roads on the course are small and narrow. If spectators stay in the Village, they can see you at 2 miles (if they are quick) and approx. 10.5 miles and can still walk back to the finish in time to see you cross the line. Driving to other points on the course would cause problems for your fellow runners so it is not encouraged.
RESULTS: Results will appear on the club website shortly after the event www.easthullharriers.com and on the Facebook page East Hull Harriers
SPONSORS: Prizes and prize vouchers are being sponsored by Humber Runner and DeSigns who will be present for your running needs and advice and also operate an efficient mail order service through their website www.humberrunner.co.uk.
Additional sponsorship has been kindly provided by design. Visit their website to understand how DESigns can benefit your business.
As many of the East Hull ‘massive’ were taking part in the inaugural Burton Constable 10k, four intrepid Harriers carried the Red Standard to Dalby Forest, ready to take on the No Ego ‘Conquer the Forest’ challenges. Runners had the choice of a 10km or a Half Marathon, with a 1 mile Fun Run for juniors, through some of the park’s most challenging terrain, lots of which generally goes unseen by the public.
