I’ve been a Harrier for nearly ten years now and I’ve always loved reading the monthly news letters/race reports, even back when they were printed out and handed round at club. Think I still have a few old paper ones boxed up somewhere actually. Anyway, my point being I’m well overdue a race report. So here goes (excuse any grammar mistakes), I know Matty can’t read so Ali you might have to read this out loud and Nige, put your glasses on!
For the second consecutive Sunday a Harriers raiding party crossed the Humber to take part in Barton & District AC’s Deepdale Dash 10k. This popular event is rated as one of the top 3 10k events by Runners World magazine readers, it features an undulating course starting outside Baysgarth School looping out into the countryside before returning to Barton and finishing on the school playing field.
The first part of a bumper weekend for the club began with three cars leaving the golf club car park with the destination of Berry Hill Park in Mansfield programmed into their sat navs. The reason for the trip was three men’s teams had been entered to participate in the 27th English Cross Country Relay Championships. This year the event doubled as a selection race for the European Cross Country Championships in December which ensured a top quality domestic field.
