Steve Coates’ Bob Graham Round 14-15th August

First done way back in 1932 by Bob Graham, hotelier of Keswick, Cumberland, at the age of 42, the 42 Peak Round has become a testing ground for the supremely fit. Each summer around 100 of the most highly tuned ultra-distance fell runners will attempt the 27,000 ft of ascent within the allotted 24 hours. Only one in three will return to the Keswick Moot Hall before the clock runs down. Most of the rest will be back again …!

The route starts in Coniston and heads South before completing a clockwise loop which takes in the Dunnerdale fells, Eskdale, Wasdale and Buttermere before arriving in Keswick. From here the route heads to Matterdale and continues over to Haweswater before returning via Kentmere, Ambleside and Elterwater to the finish at Coniston.

Harriers go North and Conquer!

As many of the East Hull ‘massive’ were taking part in the inaugural Burton Constable 10k, four intrepid Harriers carried the Red Standard to Dalby Forest, ready to take on the No Ego ‘Conquer the Forest’ challenges. Runners had the choice of a 10km or a Half Marathon, with a 1 mile Fun Run for juniors, through some of the park’s most challenging terrain, lots of which generally goes unseen by the public.

Burton Constable 10k

Having been a regular camper at Burton Constable since the beginning of time, as soon as The Burton Constable 10k was announced I knew I had to do it. Unfortunately due to bad organisational skills I also booked to go away on holiday that weekend with my girlfriend. So I had to convince my better half to drive me back from our holidays to partake in the event which took some convincing but was well worth the ice cold looks I was getting as we drove back that morning.
