Major Stone Half Marathon – Lockington – Sunday 2nd September 2018 – Race Instructions and Information
** Race STARTS AT 10:00am – register early **
LOCATION: Lockington is approximately 5 miles north of Beverley, and about 6 miles south of Driffield, situated between two main roads the A164 Beverley to Driffield road and the B1248 Beverley to Malton road. Postcode is YO25 9SH
CAR PARKING: There is a designated field for parking, which will be signposted. Please use this – it is an approximately 10 minute walk to the Village Hall where you will be required to register. The start is outside the Post Office, opposite the Village Hall. Please DO NOT park on Front Street as the race starts and finishes here and you will potentially endanger yourselves, other runners and road users in general. Also, PLEASE do not stop in the area close to the Village Hall and Start even if only to “drop off” passengers.
These measures are being taken to make the staging of the race as smooth as possible for the residents of the village.
REGISTRATION: The registration desk is in the Village Hall opposite the Post Office on Front Street (the main street) in Lockington. When you register you will be given a number and a timing chip. The number must be worn on the front of your vest only and must not be altered or folded in any way. Please ensure the timing chip is looped around your laces and fastened securely – if in doubt, ask someone for advice as ‘no chip, no time’. The usual rules for chip timing apply, i.e. you must cross the timing mats at both the start and end of the race.
*** All runners will also be given a voucher for £1 toward the cost of refreshments, which cannot be redeemed for cash ***
EARPHONES/Personal Music Players: On no account will the wearing of ear-phones (regardless of make/type) be allowed in the race. Marshals will be requested to report any runners not complying. Anyone caught is liable for disqualification from the race and will not be eligible for prizes. This is a UK Athletics rule for races on open single-carriageway roads.
REFRESHMENTS: are available in the Village Hall, where hot (free refill) and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale of refreshments are in aid of Lockington Village Hall.
MEMENTOES and PRIZES: Each runner will receive a technical T-shirt, to be collected in the Village Hall after the race on production of your race number. Your number will have an indicator with your T-Shirt size, as selected on the online system. Should this size not be correct for you it may be possible to exchange but only when we are sure all runners have received their original choice. Various prizes are being awarded with the assistance of race sponsor Humber Runner. The Prize Presentation will take place between 12pm and 12:30pm (as soon as possible) in the Village Hall.
MEDICAL COVER: will be provided by North East Medical Services. Please contact a member of NEMS or one of the numbers below if you see a runner who is in need of assistance.
CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS: (reasonable times only please)
- Richard (Race Director) : 07595 015841
- Angela : 07941 210198
SUPPORTERS: Supporters are very welcome but many of the roads on the course are small and narrow. If spectators stay in the Village, they can see you at 2 miles (if they are quick) and approx. 10.5 miles and can still walk back to the finish in time to see you cross the line. Driving to other points on the course would cause problems for your fellow runners and other road users so it is not encouraged.
Results will appear on the club website shortly after the event www.easthullharriers.com and also on the Facebook page East Hull Harriers
Prize vouchers are once again being sponsored by
01482 647613 email@example.com who will be pleased to answer any telephone queries and also operate an efficient mail order service through their website www.humberrunner.co.uk, as well as being present at the race.

Last report of the summer league season and what a race that was….says he whilst sat in the beer tent starting to process the final results!
First up a clean sweep by the City of Hull Ladies taking the first three places and of course the team prize; well done Carla Stansfield, Sophie Lee and Naomi Bright. And a not too tardy finishing time of 23:50 by Carla.
In the men’s event, it was back to normal with Steve Bateson winning his seventh event of the season in 20:50 followed in by Mike Hargreaves and James Kraft from Scarborough Athletic Club. Team event to the Harriers with the addition of Robert Weekes from fourth place.

The Overall handicap results went down to the wire with Alexia Morgan (Hornsea Harriers) the race leader being overhauled in the last event by Luke Bramley (EHH).
Despite being unable to take an active part in the season (only completed one race) it has nevertheless been a most enjoyable event, even given all my VLOOKUP issues that plagued some of the results. Work has already begun rebuilding the race spreadsheets so I can offer an improved service next year, you wish………!
I think we all need to give the organiser, Pete Dearing, our thanks for another superb season of racing and not forgetting all those regulars and not so regulars that turned out to support in other roles.
I thank you all.
So that’s it:
Enjoy the rest of the summer,
La fin; Fine; Das Ende; El Fin; Koniec; Mwisho.
STOP PRESS STOP PRESS:
Just uploaded some amended handicap results and the handicap table after our illustrious race director pointed out that there were four athletes omitted from the previous results……well they’re not now!
Considering I CBA to start the results by the time I’d eaten and had a shower last night I set to when I returned home from work today. I’m still having problems with my excel spreadsheet ‘VLOOKUPS’ as well! I realise that most of you don’t know what the %$£&**^% hell they are, it also appears that I don’t either because I can’t mend them…….anyone who knows better is welcome to come round to mine and explain them, again……
Anyway, enough of my troubles, the results are in and there are some great runs from an awful lot of people. Mark Gadie managed to smash his PB with a first sub 40 by some way; well done Mark. I managed to get myself onto the handicap league table by getting round the course, my first completed race since the winter league. Steve Bateson continues to excel at the front pushed hard by Mike Hargreaves and several others at the pointy end of the race.
The handicap league is hotting up with Vicky Webster and Sean Higgins vying for the lead at the halfway point. No lowest score deductions appearing at the moment, they may have a bearing later in the league, still all to run for!
Last night’s handicaps, set by our own Peter Dearing, seem to be some of the best yet, good work Pete, but if you could take the time to reflect on the poor job you actually did on mine I’d appreciate it and I’ll look forward to an improvement next time (joke! I could always massage mine if I wanted to. You know what they say a good ‘scorer’ beats a good player every time)?
Anyway enough of my prattling, enjoy:
