A disappointing turn out for this year’s event. It obviously didn’t create the interest of our usual timed event, which attracts a very high proportion of on the day entries.
Still, I hope those of you that ran produced the sorts of times you were looking for and most importantly; suffered no injuries or accidents.
So just remains to wish you all the very, very best for the New Year, it can hardly be worse than this one.
Well what a race day that was!
Great weather for some fast racing and record numbers of entrants and finishers!
It was a very busy clubhouse on Wednesday morning, it had to be! Those manning the ‘on the day’ entry desk had to process 200 entrants in under an hour and a half; fantastic effort. It does make me realise that I may have to tweak the entry system for next year’s event……..any more than 200 and we could not process them all.
So we had 270 finishers and there are reports of some remarkable personal bests, not least of which is young Becky Briggs (City of Hull AC) first lady home in a remarkable 34:09, reported to be the fastest by an under 20 female athlete this year. Hope to be seeing you in some major international events before long Becky, keep it up and good luck.
I have to thank everyone that came down and pitched in to help me run the event whether volunteering or press ganged on the day by myself, it could not happen without your support.
I’ll leave you all to check the final results out yourselves, as always if you spot any errors let me know and I’ll look into it.
So it just remains for me to wish you all a prosperous and fast New Year..
